The consideration of CARE as the basis of knowledge of Nursing Science has been throughout history, not only a technical issue, but also a social one. Current social demands are determined by several factors: the increase in the quality of life and degree of social well-being; the aging of the population which, in turn, sees increased chronicity along with higher levels of dependency (adding the informal family care crisis); and the aspects derived from the migratory flow.
Along with theoretical training, clinical teaching is provided (within a team and in direct contact with both healthy and sick people). They not only learn to be a member of the team, but also leadership, coordination, planning, evaluation and organization functions of nursing care, including health promotion and education.
